PATCH TO FIX BUILD FAILURE ON 2.6.17

Hi all,
here's an updated patch that selects the new kbuild

when building for

2.6.17+, otherwise use the old method

patch doesn't work for 2.6.17.1, 2.6.17.2, or 2.6.17.3
still errors out during modpost

also...just wondering...why the bin extension?
